Employment opportunities in I.T. tend to be divided into a number of main groups: First is Networking and Support (including Security), the second is Programming and Software Development, the third is Databases & the fourth is Web Design. Every IT category has its own list of skill requirements, with corresponding qualifications at various competency stages. Programming suits a different sort of person to website design, which satisfies a different kind of person to networking and security. As soon as you have had an opportunity to get guidance on all of the IT sectors, you will be much more confident that you have picked the best career path for you.

Some training companies are still using the rather old-fashioned idea of classroom days. Often sold as a benefit, if you track down someone who's been through a few, don't be surprised to be lectured on several if not all of these problems:

- Masses of journeys to the training centre - normally quite a distance away.

- Availability of classes; frequently Monday to Friday and sometimes two to three days together. It's not easy to get the work-leave.

- Usually, we find 20 days holiday per year is not really enough. Sacrifice at least half of this for educational days and see how much more difficult it makes things.

- Training events fill up fast and often end up larger than is ideal.

- Often, tension develops inside the classroom where different students want to work at different paces.

- And let's not overlook the added financial outlay of driving or taking public transport or several days bed and breakfast either. Don't be surprised to find this become hundreds and even thousands of pounds extra. Do the maths yourself - you'll be (unpleasantly) surprised.

- We all enjoy our privacy. We wouldn't want to run the risk of throwing away any potential advancement that could awarded to us because of our studies.

- Most of us find it difficult to ask questions in a class full of our fellow students - as we don't want to look silly.

- If you occasionally work away from home, it's a fact of life that days in-centre are now impossible to get to - and yet, the money has already been paid.

The perfect situation is based on viewing a ready-made, videoed workshop - enabling you to learn at a time that's convenient to you alone. You can train wherever you want. If you own a laptop, why not catch a bit of sun outside at the same time. Any problems and logon to the 24x7 support facility. Repeat any modules whenever you like - repetition is good for memory. And you don't have to worry about any note-taking - it's already ready to go. Although it's impossible to stop every little difficulty, it certainly vastly reduces stress and simplifies things. You also have reduced travel, hassle and costs.

It's clear nowadays: There's very little evidence of personal job security now; there's really only market and sector security - companies can just drop any single member of staff if it suits their trade needs. Wherever we find increasing skills deficits mixed with growing demand of course, we almost always find a newer brand of security in the marketplace; as fuelled by conditions of continuous growth, businesses just can't get enough staff.

Investigating the computer industry, a key e-Skills survey showed a twenty six percent shortage in trained professionals. Basically, we're only able to fill three out of every 4 jobs in the computer industry. This one fact on its own is the backbone of why Great Britain urgently requires many more trainees to join the Information Technology market. While the market is expanding at such a quick pace, could there honestly be a better sector worth investigating for your new career.
